A species of predatory monotreme hailing from New Caledonia, evolved by extreme evolutionary pressure to have a long body akin to a snake.

 The habitat destruction caused by nickel mining triggered them to develop abnormalities, namely a dramatically shortened body. This new variant was domesticated, and is now commonly kept as a pet.
